Barboursville Vineyards, with 160 acres in vine, occupies the central 1,000 acres of Governor James Barbour's 18th Century plantation, whose mansion designed by Thomas Jefferson is preserved as a historic landmark. Castle Hill CiderCastle Hill Cider is nestled on 600 beautiful acres in the historic Virginia countryside in Keswick, just outside of Charlottesville. The cidery, which opened its doors in 2011, resides on the land that belonged to the Castle Hill estate, which was built in 1764 and hosted seven U.S. presidents, along with many other luminaries, including dignitaries, explorers and artists. Castle Hill Cider blends time-honored traditions with modern techniques to bring you the finest orchard cider that Virginia has to offer. They draw out the best of each year’s harvest to create the most enjoyable high-quality ciders. Their world-class cider makers use time-tested and cutting-edge practices, working to renovate an 80-year-old orchard while collaborating with growers of prime apple varieties. Come relax at their beautiful historic property and enjoy our refreshing array of award-winning orchard ciders. Castle Hill Cider’s tasting room is open all year long and offers beautiful views and a comfortable place to enjoy our ciders in any season. They host a variety of events, including festivals and concerts, throughout the year on our gorgeous grounds. Don’t miss out! The Sunset Music Series is every other Thursday in April through August, come enjoy our ciders and our outdoor concerts. Cider Core is a relaxing yoga session held the first Sunday of each month. It has led the way in Virginia by searching out grape varietals that would flourish in the Old Dominion's climate and soil. Horton Vineyards is credited with introducing the Viognier grape to the state and bringing back the native grape varietal, Norton. The winery is located in Orange County, Virginia and was started in 1989 by Dennis and Sharon Horton along with long time business partner Joan Bieda. Horton Vineyards currently has sixty seven acres under vine with plantings from the Rhone Valley, Bordeaux, Madiran, Spain and Portugal.
